"Oh, don't ever do that"

On our drive back to Tucson from Greeley, CO, we took E470 (yes, it has its own web site) so that we didn't have to drive on I-25 through Denver. It was just starting to be rush hour, so it really was going to be a time saver. We drove down highway 85 and pulled up to the automated toll booth. I threw in 75¢, but the mechanism that grabs the money and registers your toll didn't seem to be working. I thought that maybe it didn't get one or more of the quarters. I asked Mrs. Beisbolfan for three more quarters. Better to be safe than sorry. After throwing in three more quarters, one at a time, I figured enough was enough. The light hadn't turned green but we went through anyway.
At the first toll booth, I figured they would want to know that the booth wasn't working so I told the lady that the booth at the entrance from 85 seemed to be broken. I said that I hadn't wanted to be fined so I put in 75¢ more. She grabbed a card with the contact information, handed it to me and said, "Oh, don't ever do that." She went on to say that they film you throwing the money in, so they know that you tried. Live and learn. It was worth the money just to for the blog entry.
